A perennial herb, native to Europe, growing in rough grassy, often damp places. The plant has a massive root system, the part used medicinally. 

The herb has been used as a natural remedy for insomnia, stress, and tension headaches.

DO NOT take in strong doses for long periods - addictive.

Use

  • To prepare as a tea, pour boiling water over 1 teaspoon of herb.
  • Cover and steep 3-5 minutes, strain and serve immediately.
  • Take before bedtime to aid sleep

Caution

Caution is advise during use of barbiturates, benzodiazepines, and other sedative drugs, as valerian has been speculated to potentiate the effects of some sedatives.
