Welcome to our zero waste store - The Village Refill
Where it all Began
On a personal journey to reduce the amount of plastic waste we consume as a family, we found local availability limited. Everyday household toiletries, larder staples, and body-care items all came wrapped or in plastic. We struggled to find a solution, so decided to create one for ourselves - and so, our very own zero-waste shop was born, The Village Refill.
We started as an eco-friendly doorstep service, refilling our customers' containers with sustainable products and bringing all things ethically sourced and low-waste in our little electric van. More recently, we set roots and opened our shop at Yarnton Home & Garden while still offering our mobile option.
Our definition of 'Village'
The name, Village Refill, isn't just about its village location, but about the network of relationships and values that connect and bind us... a community of refillers.
Carefully Curated Products
Every product we carry has been extensively researched to ensure it complies with our sustainable guidelines.
We are proud to be offering both UK made eco-friendly products and sustainable options from trusted suppliers. We also try our best to support as many local businesses as possible.
We have a large number of food and non-food products that are plastic free, from rice to pasta, refillable beauty products to makeup, herbs and spices to refillable household cleaning liquids. With our wide range of products, it’s definitely worth a visit!
Why We Care
Like most households, we've spent years diligently separating and sorting our rubbish for the recycling bin. We never considered what happened to it once it left our house.
After watching 'War on Plastic' on BBC, we learned that only 9% of our plastic is recycled. Far too much was ending up in our oceans, and this was harming the environment with devastating long-term effects. [source: National Geographic]
We realised that recycling wasn't necessarily the best option and started buying our groceries in plastic-free packaging wherever possible. However, the choices were limited and often more expensive.
What We Do
We provide a one stop shop for all your sustainable essentials.
From cupboard staples to eco-friendly household products, our store is packed full of refills and sustainable products, ranging from organic foods to refillable beauty, and much, much more.
All our products are natural, cruelty-free and environmentally friendly - the majority are vegan.
We curate products as locally as possible from UK supplier, most are independent.
You can bring your own containers or buy one of ours - we also supply donated containers and paper bags for your use. Buy as little or as much as you want, unpackaged.
