Black onion seeds, also known as Nigella or Kalonji seeds, has a subtle bitter flavour that is most commonly used in Indian or Middle Eastern cuisines, and the distinctive black seeds lend themselves to attractive presentation and plating.

Unrelated to both onion and cumin! Native to southern Europe and western Asia, has long been cultivated as a spice. The ripe seeds have a camphor-like scent and a bitter, later aromatic taste.

May contain traces of celery seed or mustard seeds.
