Valerian Root (cut) (per 100g)
5* hygiene rating
Description
Description
Dried cut valerian root with a deep, earthy aroma and a bold, woody flavour. A traditional loose herb for home brewing, best enjoyed in the evening as a caffeine-free infusion.
How to brew
- Add 1 teaspoon of cut valerian root to a cup or infuser.
- Pour over freshly boiled water and cover while it steeps.
- Steep for 3–5 minutes — longer for a stronger brew.
- Strain well before serving.
The flavour is naturally robust. If you find it too strong, reduce the amount rather than the steeping time. It blends well with milder herbs such as chamomile or lemon balm.
Safety information
Valerian root may increase drowsiness and can interact with sedative medicines, including barbiturates and benzodiazepines. Avoid long-term or high-dose use without professional guidance. Not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking medication without seeking advice first.

Can I blend it with other herbs?

Allergen Information
As a bulk foods store, despite maintaining a Five-Star Food Hygiene rating, the presence of allergens cannot be fully eliminated. Sacks of products containing allergens are opened and closed daily as we scoop and refill our shop dispensers. This means all products may contain traces of allergens due to cross-contamination.
Where a product is indicated as free from a particular allergen, this means it has not been formulated from or wholly derived from that ingredient. Allergen handling procedures are in place throughout our supply chain to minimise the risk of cross-contamination, but this cannot be guaranteed.
