This multipurpose powder, made from volcanic ash that's been aged in prehistoric sea beds, is an ingredient in everything from beautifying hair to face masks.
Bentonite clay has a smooth and delicate consistency that transforms into a paste when combined with water. It is often used in cosmetics like creams, hair masks, lotion, body scrub and face mask. It is used to remove impurities, oil and toxins from the skin.
Bentonite clay powder is said to be great for oily skin types as it helps the body absorb the dirt and oil.
Face mask recipe
This clay face mask recipe is gentle and particularly good for oily skin as the clay helps to draw out and absorb excess oil. Use once a week for glowing, fresh skin.
Ingredients
- Bentonite Clay 10g
- Kaolin Clay 5g
- Aloe Vera Gel 5g
- Jojoba Oil 2g
- Honey 2g
- Water 5g
- Mix wet and dry ingredients separately and then mix it all together, making sure there's no lumps of clay remaining.
- Use immediately.
- Apply to the skin avoiding the eye and lip area and leave for 20 minutes and relax.
- Rinse thoroughly and follow up with your moisturiser.
