Stay Cool This Summer: The Magic of Infused Teas

Beat the Heat, Naturally

Summer is here, and while reaching for an ice-cold fizzy drink might be tempting, there's a far more refreshing — and sustainable — alternative: cooling infused teas. Whether served hot and sipped slowly or brewed and chilled overnight, infused teas are nature's answer to summer hydration.

At The Village Refill, we believe that what you drink should be as kind to the planet as it is to your body. That's why our loose leaf teas and infused blends come package-free, refillable, and full of flavour.

Why Infused Teas Are Perfect for Summer

Certain herbs and botanicals have natural cooling properties — they help your body regulate temperature, soothe digestion, and keep you feeling light and refreshed even on the hottest days. Here are a few of our favourites:

  • Mint — The ultimate cooling herb. Menthol creates a natural cooling sensation that's instantly refreshing.
  • Lemon & Ginger — Zingy and bright, this combination is wonderfully uplifting iced.
  • Camomile & Lavender — Gentle and floral, perfect for winding down on a warm summer evening.
  • Rooibos — Naturally caffeine-free and slightly sweet, it's a brilliant base for cold-brew iced tea.

Our Summer Tea Picks

Here are some of our favourite teas to reach for this summer:

Teas for Hay Fever Season

Summer is beautiful — but for hay fever sufferers, it can also mean itchy eyes, sneezing, and a foggy head. The good news? Nature has some wonderfully soothing remedies, and many of them brew up beautifully as a cup of tea.

  • Allergy Relief Tea Blend (Organic) — Our very own blend, crafted specifically to support the body during allergy season. A brilliant first port of call for hay fever sufferers looking for a natural, zero-waste remedy.
  • Loose Leaf Camomile & Lavender Tea — Camomile is one of nature's most well-known anti-inflammatory herbs, traditionally used to calm irritated sinuses and soothe the body. Paired with calming lavender, this is a lovely evening brew during pollen season.
  • Nettle (Organic) — Stinging nettle has a long history as a natural antihistamine. Brew it as a simple herbal infusion for a gentle, earthy tea that may help ease seasonal symptoms.
  • Peppermint (Organic) — The menthol in peppermint acts as a natural decongestant, helping to open up airways and ease that stuffy, heavy feeling that comes with hay fever.
  • Green Sencha Tea (Organic) — Rich in antioxidants, green tea contains quercetin, a natural compound that may help stabilise mast cells and reduce histamine release.
  • Loose Leaf Jasmine Green Tea (Organic) — A fragrant, delicate blend that combines the antioxidant benefits of green tea with the calming properties of jasmine.
  • Loose Leaf Rooibos Tea (Organic) — Naturally caffeine-free and rich in antioxidants, rooibos is a gentle, soothing option for those sensitive to caffeine during allergy flare-ups.

Please note: herbal teas are not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have severe hay fever symptoms, always consult your GP or pharmacist.

How to Make the Perfect Iced Infused Tea

Making iced tea at home is simple, zero-waste, and endlessly customisable. Here's our favourite method:

  1. Cold brew overnight — Add 2–3 teaspoons of loose leaf tea to a jug of cold water. Pop it in the fridge overnight (8–12 hours). No heat required, and the result is incredibly smooth.
  2. Hot brew & chill — Brew your tea as normal (slightly stronger than usual), allow to cool, then pour over ice.
  3. Add natural flavours — Fresh mint, sliced lemon, cucumber, or a sprig of lavender all make beautiful additions.

Use our reusable stainless steel tea strainer or loose leaf tea infuser to brew without any single-use waste — and store your tea in a Kilner jar for a beautiful, plastic-free presentation.

Sip Sustainably This Summer

Every cup of loose leaf tea you brew is a small act of sustainability — no plastic teabag wrappers, no microplastics, just pure, delicious tea. Refill your tin, brew your blend, and enjoy the season.
