With the cold grey days and shortage of sunlight, Autumn and Winter can be difficult in many ways. So, we thought we'd focus on a few of our favourite ways to beat those winter blues.
Our Favourite Winter Blues Busters
Best for Invigorating
Essential oils work brilliantly in your morning bath or shower, and just a little goes a long way. Try these essential oils for invigorating those dark mornings:
You can add a few drops to your shower tray in the morning, keep some on hand to sniff throughout the day, or create your own blend and add it to a mini roller to apply when you need it.
You could even kickstart your day with a zingy Mojito Mint Tea.
Best for Boosting Sleep
As much as you might like to hibernate all through winter, sometimes it's hard to get a really good night's sleep. We recommend the following essential oils and minerals to help you drift off to a soothing slumber:
- Lavender
- Chamomile
- Magnesium Salts/Oil Spray
- Frankincense
- Iron
A good soak in the bath with Magnesium Bath Salts can help as part of your night-time routine, alongside a nice cup of Chamomile and Lavender Tea.
We've been loving the Goodnight Sleeptight Roll-on, as well as the Sweet Sleep Magnesium Butter, which works brilliantly when rubbed onto the soles of your feet before you hop into bed.
Finish it all off with a misting of Lavendar Pillow Spray, and you're all set for a trip to slumberland.
Best for Mood Boosting
Fresh air and a walk in nature are two of our favourite mood boosters, but there are some natural scents that can really help as a mood pick-me-up.
Essential oils like lavender, bergamot, ylang ylang, sweet orange oil, peppermint, rosemary, and lemon are all favoured as mood boosters. Why not create your own blend, and pop it in a spray bottle or roller, so you can roll it on your wrist or sniff it when you need it.
Or, if you like room fragrances, try our English lavender incense sticks or wax melts,
Best for Gut Health
Poor gut health can cause a number of issues, including high stress, anxiety or low mood, along with a number of digestive issues. If you'd like to give your gut health a boost,
Fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, kefir and yoghurt are often recommended, along with natural grains, fruit and vegetables.
Our favourites for gut health boosters include our popular Organic Fire Cider, kimchi flakes, and kombucha, which comes in six delicious flavours.
The kimchi cilli flakes are delicious sprinkled on fried eggs, fries, avocado, and lots more! While the Fire Cider is great when used in a salad dressing, taken as a daily tonic in water, or added to sauces and marinades.
Immune System Boosters
During flu season, it's essential to have a reliable defence against infection. From food supplements to essential oil blends, herbal remedies offer preventive solutions to keep your immune system strong.
Our Fire Cider with organic ingredients with ginger and turmeric, can serve as daily immune boosters. Our carefully curated range of products also includes traditional favourites Peppermint Oil for respiratory support.
Our Organic Baobab Powder can help increase energy levels and improve the health of your skin and gut while also boosting your immune system. With its natural sweetness and citrusy flavour, it's great added to smoothies, juices and breakfast bowls.
We now stock Vegan Multivitamin Gummies, which are suitable from age three upwards, and are packed with Vitamins A, C, D, B12, B6, folic acid and biotin.
A steaming cupful of Organic Tumeric Latte or Organic Cacao + Reishi 'hot chocolate' is fantastically soothing. Ginger is another brilliant booster, and there are so many ways to include it in your diet - from Ginger Hot Chocolate to Lemon & Ginger Tea, Dark Chocolate Covered Ginger Nuggets, and Crystallised Ginger.
If you're visiting us in-store, stock up on frozen blueberries for their vitamin C and antioxidants, they are perfect when blended into a smoothie, or defrosted and drizzled over pancakes. And, of course, we stock a huge range of other natural boosters, like spices and garlic, almonds, nuts and seeds, beans & pulses.
So you won't be short of ways to beat the winter blues naturally this year.
